Transurban, the owners and operators of Lane Cove Tunnel, contracted Studio Colin Polwarth to provide architectural input for a REF for the Free Flow Tolling System at Military Road, North Sydney. The replacement of the toll gantries for both locations required extensive consultation with RMS Centre for Urban Design.

The existing redundant tolling system was removed as a result of this major upgrade to the tolling infrastructure. New technological advances and the Kapsch-designed tolling system and gantry replaced the existing gantry, which included new night time camera and associated technology systems.
