Studio Colin Polwarth is known for extensive research and analysis of the site and in this case the university’s specific requirements for the redevelopment. Working closely with Urbanac and UTS we developed specific urban design strategies and objectives in relation to the possibility of increasing the building FSR above the current zoning requirements for a future building within this sensitive heritage and educational precinct.

The strategies including the development of 7 carefully considered options ultimately resulted in the selection of preferred envelope, modelling of the site, context and the envelope study with metrics input for the report all developed in Revit and 3DSMax modelling. The report was favourably received by both the Department of Planning and the City of Sydney. The architectural response in the form of 3D modelling was central to the success of the development of the project.
